Orto Dell'Idro is located in Otranto, a town on the Mediterranean Sea in Salento, the south part of the region Apulia, the heel of the Italian boot. This fascinating area full of olive orchards and prickly pears is also rich in ancient traditions, cultural events, and pristine natural beauty. You'll find our farm in Valle dell'Idro, the green valley just 5 minutes walk from Otranto historical center and the beach. All pretty close to the baroque city of Lecce (30min ride), Brindisi airport (1 hr) and Bari airport (2hr).
Salento offers beautiful diverse nature ranging from ancient caves, sandy and rocky beaches with crystal clear water, and lakes with unique wildlife. The landscape is pierced with pajare, ancient rural buildings, and tons of little medieval towns with castles and palaces, where cultural events are often organized to honor the local delicious cuisine and the fun traditional dance called 'pizzica' that bring the communities together.
WHAT WE DO?
Orto Dell'Idro is a non-profit association in Otranto that offers inspiration for a more sustainable and harmonious lifestyle. As a Yoga eco farm we offer the opportunity to learn and practice disciplines such as Permaculture and Yoga. We offer a platform for like minded people to share their knowledge about practices that can improve our quality of life. We organize social and cultural events to enjoy the community life and a conscious lifestyle in harmony with nature.
WHO ARE THE FOUNDERS?
Silvia and Robbert are the founders of Orto Dell'Idro. Silvia is Italian, an architect and yoga teacher, and lived in New York for decades. Robbert is Dutch, a marketing consultant and Reiki master. Tired of the stressful city life they realized that they wanted to live close to nature and inspire people with meaningful activities. Long explorations brought them to a beautiful valley in Otranto where they started Orto Dell'Idro in 2017.
